Governor Thomas Hutchinson

The Sons of Liberty really did not like Thomas Hutchinson, the governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay from 1758 to 1774. Hutchinson was born into a wealthy New England merchant family whose ancestors included early settlers. He was actually opposed to the Stamp Act, but was still considered a Loyalist. In the end he was unable to control the colonists, and was replaced General Thomas Gage in 1774.
