The Beak, or Beakhead, of a 17th Century Warship Seen from Above


It is also known as the beakhead. This is the protruding platform from the bow that is under the bowsprit. Crewmembers could walk on the beak and work on the bowsprit. Maybe it is my seasickness talking but I rather not be anywhere near the beak.
